18 inch barrel

Every time I saw one of these rifles I thought bubba hacked off the bayonet lug and there seem to be a duckbill mag or aftermarket stock close by reinforcing that thought. It wasn't until I saw the pic below that I realized the barrel is shorter. So the next three or four of these I saw I started to pay attention. The barrel is cut to 18.5 inches and the bayonet lug is removed completely right behind the front sight. The cleaning rod nipples are shaved off and the sight was reinstalled with one retaining pin. They all have a bayonet groove in the stock

I have not seen enough of them to know if they come from one importer or if they are factory or serial number specific.
