Picture

This rifle was used to test the operation and set up production of the shorter gas system used on the AK magazine rifles. This would include but is not limited to the Sporter and the M series of rifles produced from late 1992 and on.
Picture

These rifles are stamped mod skss

Picture

All have the classic signs of late production. Pinned barrel and stamped trigger group
Picture

If you cut the SKS barrel down to 16.5 inches the fsb will touch the gas block.
Picture

Now if you shorten the gas tube and gas piston you have to move the gas block accordingly. This will leave a gap between the fsb and the gas block. Any rifle with a short gas system will have this gap.
Picture

Here is a side by side comparison of the short (top) and the standard gas tube (bottom).
Picture

These rifles are new production and unless the previous owner trashed it. All are in immaculate condition and will keep its value. Parts are numbered to the receiver.

All these rifles were imported in 1992.
